Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Ephesians 5:17-21 NIV
Here is an exhortation by Paul to Church at Ephesus, and it is applicable even for us now.
To be unwise is foolishness. We acquire knowledge but fail to apply at appropriate time and situation without knowing God’s will. Such a man is utterly foolish.
An Christian should not conform to the pattern of this world, one has to have kingdom thinking and keep renewing the mind inorder to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will. Also, God’s will can be discerned by learning and filling within us Spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Paul illustrates some of God’s will here they are.
👉 Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Instead of being drunk with the wine or beer other words do not get addicted to worldly things which takes your mind away from God and it’s will. For some of us there would be some things that we may be addicted to one e.g I can think of is our Mobiles and various apps and games in the mobile phones. Every kind of addiction releases a particular hormone in our body that is dopamine which gives a high and disillusionment and it gives a particular pleasure and wants us repeat the same act again and again. We need to have self control and always think whether my time spent on phone/social media is worth.
Rather cloth yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. I Suggest read articles relates to Phone and dopamine.
👉Speak to one another with Psalms, hymns and Spiritual songs. Constant Communication to fellow Christians is paramount important. One should always yearn for fellowship with one another ceasing every opportunity.
👉 Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord. Just enjoy His company when you are alone. You can dance and sing aloud. Pour out your heart to the King of King and Lord of all.
👉 Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In every circumstances and situations wether it is happened good or bad give thanks to God for who he is.
👉 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Whether young or old person let us submit to one another.
Seek God’s will in every area of life.
