Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.

Nehemiah 2:17‭-‬18 NIV

Today from this passage we will learn few leadership lesson.
Nehemiah in Babylon under Persian king was a cup bearer a key personality in the Artaxerxes ruled Persia.

The Jews were in captivity for 70 years in Babylon because of their disobedience to God’s commandments.

Nehemiah heard news personally about the ruins of Jerusalem wall, desolate city and problems of few remnant that of Jews people in the city that survived the exile. Nehemiah heard the problem very carefully. See Neh. 1:2-3,

👉Ist Lesson is hear and comprehend the problem. Understand the problem so that you can bring in the solution.

👉2nd lesson is he personalized the problem, as if he himself is distrust and going through an agony. Remember he was in good position in the king’s palace very comfortable life. See Neh. 1: 4

👉3rd Lesson he prayed before the God of heaven. While praying he asked for forgiveness. See Neh. 1:6-7. And also, he asked for success today.

👉4th lesson is He saw the Vision of Welfare of Israel. Restoration to its original glory. The Vision was birthed in his heart given by God. See Neh. 2: 12

👉5th lesson work unto God even if you are serving the enemy. King of Persia was enemy of Israel. Nehemiah served God therefore, God moved the heart of King Artaxerxes, even as Nehemiah prayed to God of heaven and answered the king when the right time came. See Neh. 2:4-6.

👉6th lesson He submitted himself to king and asked his consent and his help to fulfill the vision. See Neh. 2: 7-8.

👉7th lesson he Ventured out with power and authority from God and the king. See Neh. 2: 9

👉8th lesson, Nehemiah spent time in planning even much before beginning the actual work. He surveyed the ruins and city thoroughly. He gave due diligence.

👉9th lesson he did not mention the Vision to the people concerned until he laid the blue print and complete planning for execution of the vision. See Neh. 2: 11-16

👉10th lesson he casted the vision to the affected people. His statement is very clear by saying to them as “We are in trouble”. He describes the problem very clearly. And he lays the solution to the problem that’s the vision. See Neh. 2:17.

👉11th lesson he involves the people in the Vision, by saying it is God’s heart to rebuild Jerusalem. And says to the people motivating them. “Let us rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and we will no longer be in disgrace/problem”. See Neh. 2: 17.

👉12th lesson he assured the people saying he is not alone but the God of universe and the King of Persia are with him.

👉13th lesson is Nehemiah waited until he heard from the people in unison saying “let us start the rebuilding”. See Neh. 2:18.

So, they began this good work.
