Continued from Book of Nehemiah…

After the Completion of the rebuilding of wall there was a huge task ahead of Nehemiah. That was restoring the people of Israel to reconnect to the living God and to be in the Covenanted promise of God.

👉The book of Nehemiah teaches us about the God’s move and His desires to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and also to rebuild the life of people in the promised land.

👉Nehemiah tells about the covenant between God and his people. (See Promise given to Abraham) shows His faithfulness to the covenant through the success in rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls.

👉The success or failure of God’s people depends upon their faithfulness to the covenant. It is important that Nehemiah leads the people through the ceremony that renews their covenant with God.

👉This covenant reminds the Jews what they must do.
After years of exile in a foreign land, they must move forward as the people of God.

👉 The book of Nehemiah demonstrates God’s patience and love as His people decide whether or not to live in obedience to the covenant
Ruined wall is equivalent to wretched and fallen mankind. Our sinful life, disobedient life, our ungodly life. Romans Chapter 1. & Chapter 3 explains the fallen mankind’s state.

👉Restoration is equivalent to God’s promise and covenant faithfully acted by God patiently and lovingly towards his chosen people re-establishing to the original status even better than earlier life.

👉He sends his one only son at the appointed time. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6 NIV
He lived amongst us as a man sacrificed on the cross for our sins and was buried and rose again. Any one believes in Him will be restored from the sinful being to a holy being and much better status than before. Once and for all he did for us.

👉Restoration of Jerusalem and it’s people is also an image or the reflection of the real thing that God has planned the New Jerusalem.

👉Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:1‭-‬5 NIV
