when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:21-24 NIV
Paul continues to emphasize what he said earlier with a greater degree of action from us starting from attitude of our minds. That’s were the battle and the struggle begins. We heard and learnt that our old man who lived according to the worldly pleasures to be put off and put on new self because we are made to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. In other words we have to constantly think and display our actions and behaviour that reflect godly character such as righteousness and holiness.
We are set apart or made holy by God and he called us as righteous that God’s righteousness he gave to us. The knowledge are the gift that we have now is to be worn by us. That why the word put on or wear it. So, let us know not just hear the word. But develope an understanding and knowledge about Christ we imbibe and teach others also.
